URUMQI: Urumqi, capital of northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, issued e-vouchers to unleash consumption potential.
The e-vouchers, worth about 108.5 million yuan (about 15.3 million U.S. dollars), will be issued in three rounds starting from Saturday, said the commerce bureau of the regional capital.
Residents in Urumqi can get the vouchers on Alibaba’s online-payment service Alipay and enjoy a rebate when making payments at offline shops.
Meanwhile, the city will also hand out 50,000 tourism consumption coupons, which could be spent in seven tourist sites in the city. In early March, Chinese authorities released a guideline on boosting consumption to cushion the blow of the COVID-19 epidemic on economic activities. – Agencies
