LAHORE: US Charge d’Affairs Angela Aggeler on Thursday met Opposition Leader in the National Assembly and Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Shehbaz Sharif and party’s Vice-President Maryam Nawaz in Lahore and discussed the regional peace particularly in Afghanistan.
The meeting with Maryam took place at her residence Jati Umrah in Raiwind while Aggeler met Shehbaz in Lahore’s Model Town.
As per details, matters of mutual interest, regional peace particularly in Afghanistan were discussed during the Aggeler-Shehbaz meeting. On the occasion, Aggeler lauded the services of Shehbaz as the former chief minister of Punjab. Steps taken during the tenure of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif to end load-shedding, fight against terrorism and economic development were also discussed during the meeting.
Earlier, Aggeler visited Karachi from September 29 to October 1 to strengthen bilateral ties between Pakistan and the United States and promote efforts against the novel coronavirus (Covid-19) pandemic.
