TASHKENT: Uzbekistan registered 43,581 people living with HIV as of Nov. 1, while observing a stabilization of the situation amid the COVID-19 epidemic, the country’s Ministry of Health said. During the past 10 months, 1,483 new HIV cases were registered across the country, down by 55 percent year-on-year, it added.
Currently Uzbekistan, with a population of 34 million, runs 78 HIV diagnostic laboratories and over 70 percent of those infected are covered by antiretroviral therapy, according to the ministry. – Agencies
