KHUNJERAB: Students and teachers of Karakoram International University (KIU) Gilgit Baltistan on Friday paid tribute to the martyred teachers of Confucius Institute Karachi at Pak-China border at Khunjerab Pass.
KIU Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr. Atta Ullah Shah led a delegation consisting of students and faculty from China Study Centre (CSC) KIU and students from Hunza Campus KIU on the Pak-China border in Khunjerab. The Vice-Chancellor expressed his sincere condolences to the Chinese people, condemned this terrorist attack, and paid tribute to the teachers who died in the incident. “The three martyred teachers were messengers of cultural exchange between China and Pakistan,” said Mr. Shah.
According to Dr. Atta Ullah Shah, Pak-China friendship is higher than the Himalayas, deeper than the Arabian Sea, stronger than steel, and Sweeter than honey. “No terrorist force or conspiracy can undermine the great friendship and cooperation between China and Pakistan,” he said.
On the afternoon of April 26, a van from the Confucius Institute at University of Karachi was hit by a suicide terrorist attack. The incident killed three Chinese teachers and left another injured.
The enemies failed in their nefarious design to halt teaching activities at the institute. In less than a month, teaching and cultural activities resumed at Confucius Institute at Karachi University on May 23, 2022. –Agencies
