ISLAMABAD: A 6-member delegation of French financial institution – AFD, led by Director Asia Cyrille Bellier called on Chairman WAPDA Lt Gen Muhammad Saeed (Retd) on Wednesday and financial matters of AFD-funded WAPDA projects came under discussion.
AFD is providing Euro 351.5 million as loan for construction of WAPDA Projects, which include Mangla Dam Refurbishment Project, 2nd Rehabilitation Project of Warsak Hydel Power Station, Harpo Hydropower Project, Rehabilitation of Dargai Hydel Power Station and Capacity Enhancement of Chitral Hydel Power Station. Besides, AFD is also providing Euro 200,000 as grant for Dargai and Chitral Hydel Power Stations, said a press release.
The Chairman WAPDA, in his welcome remarks, thanked AFD for lending a hand to WAPDA in generating clean, green and economically affordable hydel electricity for the country.
Referring to the longstanding cooperation between AFD and WAPDA, the Chairman said he is confident that the partnership will further grow in the future.
AFD Director Asia, appreciating WAPDA’s contribution for enhancing enviornment friendly hydel electricity in the National Grid, assured AFD’s continued support in implementation of WAPDA Projects.
Member (Finance) WAPDA Naveed Asghar Chaudhry was also present on the occasion.
