Sydney: Australian opener David Warner has been ruled out of the final ODI and three-match T20I series against India. Hard-hitting opening batsman D’Arcy Short has replaced him.
The 34-year-old Warner limped off the field during the second innings of the second ODI against India. He later in the day underwent scans and it was revealed that he suffered a groin strain.
He had registered back to back scores of 50+ in the first two ODIs of the series. He made 69 and 83 respectively. Short, who was on standby, has been named as Warner’s replacement for the T20I leg.
Australian head coach Justin Langer said that Warner would utilize the time to recover with an aim to get fit in time for the first Test, starting 17 December.
