Dushanbe: Instagram and Facebook appear to have been blocked in Tajikistan. The majority of users in Tajikistan have not been able to open these popular social networking services for already two days.
Instagram users were the first to inform about restricted access to these social networking services. Later Facebook and Facebook Messenger users also began to complain about problems with access to Facebook.
Only Babilon-M subscribers say they have no problems with access to these social networking services, while subscribers to other mobile companies says that can open Facebook and Instagram only with using virtual private network, or VPN, applications. This speaks of blockage of these social networking services in Tajikistan.
As usual, the communications service agency officials do not comment on the reason for unavailability of these social networking services in the country.
Tajik authorities have used the practice to temporarily block Facebook, YouTube, and other social networks for years.
