XI’AN: Four wild leopards were spotted in a national park in northwest China’s Shaanxi Province, local authorities said on Friday.
An infrared camera in December 2019 captured video of the four leopards, believed to be a family, on Tianhua Mountain in the Giant Panda National Park.
National park employee Luo Jun said leopards, as apex predators, mostly live on mountains and hills, noting that their settlement indicates the effectiveness of environmental protection measures in the area.
Since 2013, the Tianhua Mountain administration has installed more than 100 infrared cameras and captured images and video of leopards and many other animal species. – Agencies
