The march of civilization over the last few centuries has led to immense technological developments. Today’s man is largely dependent on the most modern form of machines including the quickest and highly advanced modes of transport and communication.
Although many people choose to drive automobiles rather than riding bicycles, there is still a sizeable amount of population who prefer to use bicycle. Bicycle is a non-motorized form of transportation that can greatly reduce air and noise pollution, can slow down global climate change and if encouraged properly, can be a step towards health sustainability. Therefore the UN General Assembly has designated 3 June,2021 as World Bicycle Day. This is a day when cities can rethink about the health friendly and cost effective means of transport particularly during the times of the pandemic COVID-19.
