BEIJING: The world needs a stable China-U.S. relationship, senior Chinese diplomat Wang Yi said on Tuesday, urging the two sides to “bring the relations back onto the track of healthy development.” Wang, a member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the CPC Central Committee, made the remarks while holding talks with U.S. Special Presidential Envoy for Climate John Kerry in Beijing.
Noting the important consensus reached by the two heads of state in Indonesia last November, Wang said the two sides should put the consensus into practice and work together to remove interferences. China stands ready to strengthen communication with the United States to jointly tackle climate change, Wang told Kerry.
Wang said China adheres to the path of green, low-carbon and sustainable development and actively engages in international cooperation to address climate change, adding that “China is willing to strengthen communication with the U.S., explore mutually beneficial cooperation and jointly address climate change together.”
Stressing the great potential of China-U.S. climate change cooperation, Wang said cooperation cannot be separated from the understanding and support of the two peoples and the current status of China-U.S. relations.
