ISLAMABAD: Foreign Minister Shah Mehmood Qureshi has urged the international community to take notice of dangerous steps taken by the Indian government which are affecting the region’s peace, media reported on Sunday.
In a statement, Qureshi said all minorities particularly Muslims in India have been protesting against the controversial citizenship act and their entire opposition is also protesting.
The foreign minister said that he had informed UN Security Council about his apprehensions and possible threats in a “letter he sent on December 12”.
The minister said India can resort to a “false flag operation to divert attention and unprovoked ceasefire violation along LoC” is also continuing.
Qureshi said Pakistan has befittingly responded to the unprovoked firing of Indian forces in which a “large number of casualties” have been reported.
On Saturday, Prime Minister Imran Khan also warned the international community that Pakistan will be left with no option but to give a “befitting response” to the Indian “false flag operation” in an attempt to divert world’s attention from violent protests against recently passed anti-Muslim law.

Addressing party supporters in New Delhi — who cried “Modi!Modi!” at the mention of the law — the 69-year-old said Muslims “don’t need to worry at all” — provided they are genuine Indians.
“Muslims who are sons of the soil and whose ancestors are the children of mother India need not to worry” about the law and his plans to carry out a national register of citizens, Modi told the crowd of thousands.

The minister in a statement cautioned that India can resort to a false flag operation to divert attention from ongoing protests against the controversial Citizenship Act in the neighbouring country.
He said the Pakistan Army gave a befitting response to unprovoked firing by Indian forces along the LoC, which reportedly inflicted a large number of casualties on them as their posts were targeted.
FM Qureshi said all minorities, particularly Muslims, in India have been protesting against the discriminatory citizenship law. He said he had informed UN Security Council about apprehensions and possible threats in his letter on 12th of this month.
Earlier, on Dec 21, the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) had clarified no “major exchange of fire in Kiran or Neelum valley as being propagated by Indian Media” had taken place.
In a tweet on the micro-blogging site, the DG ISPR Major General Asif Ghafoor said that intermittent ceasefire violations (CFVs) by Indian army continue along the Line of Control (LoC) and are befittingly responded.
He further said that in response to the violations in Dewa Sector, there are reports of damage to Indian posts and heavy casualties of Indian soldiers. Director General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General AsifGhafoor late Saturday said Indian posts have been damaged and heavy casualties are reported to Indian soldiers in response to CFV in Dewa sector.
