Xi Jinping stresses promoting full, rigorous Party self-governance ceaselessly

BEIJING: Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, on Monday stressed ceaseless efforts in promoting full and rigorous Party self-governance and ensuring the implementation of decisions and plans made at the 20th CPC National Congress.
Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks while addressing the second plenary session of the 20th CPC Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI).
Members of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee Li Qiang, Zhao Leji, Wang Huning, Cai Qi and Ding Xuexiang attended the meeting.
Li Xi, also a member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and head of the CCDI, presided over the meeting.
Noting the importance of building the system of exercising full and rigorous self-governance of the Party, Xi said the system should be a dynamic system with “rich connotations, complete functions, scientific norms and efficient operation”.
Efforts are needed in improving the mechanism for implementing the major decisions and plans of the CPC Central Committee, and ensure that all policies are implemented through effective daily oversight, he said.
Xi also highlighted implementing the “eight-point decision on improving conduct.”
First made public on December 4, 2012, the eight-point decision targets pointless formalities, bureaucratic red tape, hedonism and extravagance and seeks to rein in privilege-seeking attitudes and behavior.
On observing political disciplines, he said that every member of the CPC, especially leading cadres, should have a firm awareness of the Party Constitution.
Concerning the anti-corruption campaign, Xi asked officials to make more solid efforts in maintaining a zero-tolerance stance on corruption.
He urged continuous efforts to achieve the goal that officials “do not dare, are not able, and have no desire to be corrupt”.
Efforts are also needed in resolutely preventing political and business collusion and the infiltration of capital into the political sphere, he said.
Improving an efficient oversight system under the unified leadership of the Party is an important symbol of modernizing the country’s governance system and capacity, he said.
Xi also stressed the importance of giving full play to the role of discipline inspection commissions and supervision agencies at all levels.
