Xi’s CPC Centenary speech to be published

BEIJING: A speech made by Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, at a grand ceremony marking the centenary of the CPC, will be published Friday in this year’s 14th issue of the Qiushi Journal, a flagship magazine of the CPC Central Committee.
Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, delivered the speech on July 1.
Over the past century, the CPC has secured extraordinary historical achievements on behalf of the people, says the article, adding that China has realized the first centenary goal of building a moderately prosperous society in all respects and brought about a historic resolution to the problem of absolute poverty.“We are now marching in confident strides toward the second centenary goal of building China into a great modern socialist country in all respects,” the article says.
It goes on saying that all the struggle, sacrifice, and creation through which the Party has united and led the Chinese people over the past hundred years have been tied together by one ultimate theme — bringing about the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.
A hundred years ago, the pioneers of Communism in China established the CPC and developed the great founding spirit of the Party, which is the Party’s source of strength, according to the article.
The article emphasizes nine aspects of adherence, including upholding the firm leadership of the Party, uniting and leading the Chinese people in working ceaselessly for a better life, continuing to adapt Marxism to the Chinese context, and upholding and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics. – Agencies
