Yasir, Railways Minister discuss tourism promotion

ISLAMABAD: Adviser to Prime Minister on Tourism, Sardar Yasir Ilyas Khan Wednesday called on Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi and discussed matters of mutual interest, particularly the promotion of tourism through Pakistan Railways.
During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing access to tourist destinations across the country through improved railway connectivity and modern travel facilities. The two leaders agreed to effectively utilize the historical heritage of Pakistan Railways, including old railway stations and heritage sites, for the promotion of tourism in the country.
The role of heritage and tourist train services, including the Safari Train operating from Golra, was also appreciated during the discussion.
Sardar Yasir said that the historical legacy of Pakistan Railways was a valuable asset for the country’s tourism sector.
Hanif Abbasi reaffirmed his commitment to preserving railway heritage and linking it with tourism-related activities to attract domestic and international visitors.
The meeting also focused on activating religious, historical and northern areas tourism routes through the railway network to facilitate travelers and boost the tourism industry.
Both leaders emphasized the need to introduce special tourist train packages and modern travel amenities for passengers to promote tourism and provide a better travel experience.
