ISLAMABAD: Dr Yasmin Rashid, a prominent leader of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), was transferred to a local hospital on Wednesday after fainting in Kot Lakhpat Jail in Lahore.
Sources report that Dr Rashid was rushed to Lahore’s Services Hospital after experiencing high blood pressure. She is currently undergoing treatment at the facility.
This marks the second time the PTI leader has been hospitalised. Last month, she was shifted to the hospital after experiencing a cough and throat discomfort.
According to media reports, Dr Rashid underwent checkups in the Pulmonology and Medicine Departments of the hospital. Following these assessments and the prescription of various medications, doctors transferred her back to Kot Lakhpat Jail.
The former Punjab health minister was arrested last year in connection with an attack and arson at Jinnah House in Lahore on May 9.
An anti-terrorism court (ATC) in Punjab’s provincial capital on Tuesday indicted PTI leaders, Dr Yasmin Rashid, Senator Ejaz Chaudhary and Rubina Jamil, in cases related to allegedly setting police vehicles ablaze at Rahat Bakery Chowk during the May 9 violence. The accused were presented for trial before ATC Judge Abher Gul Khan, who presided over the indictment process. The accused pleaded not guilty and expressed their intent to contest the charges. –Agencies
