NCOC estimates constant decline in new COVID-19 cases

-1,579 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours
-So far 77 per cent COVID-19 patients recovery
-Sindh remains hard-hit province, followed by Punjab, KP & Islamabad

LAHORE: Pakistan on Sunday has confirmed 46 deaths in a single day by novel coronavirus as the number of positive cases has surged to 263,496. The nationwide tally of fatalities has jumped to 5,568.
According to the latest figures by the National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) 1,579 persons have been tested positive for COVID-19 in 24 hours. Province-wise DetailsSindh remains the worst-hit province by the pandemic in terms of cases followed by Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad.
Till now 112,118 coronavirus cases have been confirmed in Sindh, 89,793 in Punjab, 31,890 in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 11,424 in Balochistan, 14,576 in Islamabad 1,807 in Gilgit-Baltistan and 1,888 in Azad Kashmir.
Furthermore 2,079 individuals have lost their lives to the epidemic in Punjab, 1,974 in Sindh, 1,139 in KP, 131 in Balochistan, 157 in Islamabad, 41 in GB and 47 in Azad Kashmir. Pakistan has so far conducted 1,721,660 coronavirus tests and 22,559 in last 24 hours. 204,276 coronavirus patients have recovered in the country whereas 1,763 patients are in critical condition.Meanwhile, The novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has claimed 19 more lives and infected as many as 889 people during the past 24 hours in Sindh.
In a statement on the daily COVID-19 situation, CM Murad Ali Shah said that 19 more people succumbed to the coronavirus in the past 24 hours, taking the death toll from the disease to 1993.
He maintained that 7977 samples were tested today, which detected 889 new cases of COVID-19.
Sindh CM said that 654 more COVID-19 patients recuperated today, taking the number of recovered patients to 92,037 in the province.
Currently, 18,977 patients are under treatment, of them 18,169 in home isolation, 65 at isolation centres, the chief minister said.
Murad Ali Shah said that 525 patients are in critical condition in Sindh, of whom 74 are on ventilators.
Of the total 889 fresh cases, 395 were detected in Karachi, including 121 in District East, 93 in District South, 65 in District Central, 46 in Malir, 41 in Korangi, and 29 in District West.
Earlier in the day, Sindh government spokesperson Murtaza Wahab said that as many as 3,249 children under the age of 10 have so far been infected with coronavirus in the province.
In a Twitter post, he said 22,554 adults above the age of 50 were affected by Covid-19 in the province.
He urged people to exercise all precautions, wear masks and not go out unnecessarily.
It is pertinent to mention here that 1,579 coronavirus cases were reported in the country over the past 24 hours, bringing the national caseload to 263,496, according to the government’s Covid-19 portal.
While, Punjab reported 328 new cases of the novel coronavirus in the last 24 hours, taking the province’s total number of confirmed infections to 89,793.
According to the Primary and Secondary Healthcare Department, 12 more people died from the virus during the period, due to which the death toll in the province rose to 2,079.
As many as 65,436 patients have recovered while overall 644,077 tests have been conducted so far.
According to district-wise breakdown of fresh coronavirus cases, Lahore reported 133 cases, Nankana Sahib and Kasur three each, Shiekhupura one, Rawalpindi twelve, Jhelum three, Chakwal one, Gujranwala 19, Sialkot eight, Gujrat 13, Multan 18, Faisalabad 26, Jhang five, Rahim Yar Khan four, Bahawalpur elevem, Sahiwal five, Okara nine, and Pakpattan four.

During the period, 46 deaths from complications related to the coronavirus were recorded as the number of people who have so far succumbed to the virus in the country soared to 5,568.
