Swat Motorway Phase-II okayed

PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Mahmood Khan on Thursday laid the foundation stone of 80 kilometers long Swat Motorway Phase-II starting from Chakdara to Fatehpur.
This motorway will be completed at a cost of Rs36.404 billion and the project would be constructed by December 2024.
The chief minister was told that it will consist nine interchanges and eight bridges on River Swat besides interlinking with different highways of Malakand Division. Mahmood Khan said it was mega road communication project that would benefit a large number of people. He said it was a gift of the provincial government for the people of KP especially Malakand division and Swat. Wednesday, Mahmood Khan has said that the government has increased annual development program of tribal districts from twenty-four to sixty-four billion rupees.
Talking to media in Bajaur, Mahmood Khan said the government is actively working to remove seventy years’ deprivations of tribal people by resuming journey of development and prosperity. He said government will soon establish Bajaur University in the area to provide higher education to the tribal youth. The Chief Minister said the government is bearing the health card expenses of tribal districts from its own budget. Meanwhile Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Mahmood Khan on Wednesday inaugurated 18 development projects worth billions of rupees that include construction and upgradation of schools and roads network in Bajaur district and to facilitate local population. During his visit, he laid the foundation stone of construction of 52.5 kms of link roads at six different places.
To provide best education facilities to the youth of the areas and on demand of the local people, Mahmood Khan also inaugurated 12 primary schools in Bajaur district, besides up-gradation of six primary schools, 17 middle schools and 17 high schools.
Chief Minister while speaking on the occasion said that steps were being taken on emergency basis to provide quality educational opportunities in merged districts. He also inaugurated the newly constructed hockey turf, football ground and hostel at Sports Complex Khar.
Later, he also inaugurated the Mamond Sports Stadium. He said”KP government top priority is to ensure healthy environment to youth and providing them best sporting facilities.” Chief Minister also inaugurated Rescue 1122 building at Bajaur Nawagai.
