ISLAMABAD: A delegation of students from Government Postgraduate College Parachinar and Government Degree College Sadda called on Federal Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Sajid Hussain Turi, here on Thursday.
The delegation was led by Murtaza Hussain, Gohar Zaman, Bakht Zamin Mangal and Iftikhar Hussain and was sponsored by the CRA-N.
The delegation briefed the minister on various issues, particularly the problems of the students of the newly merged districts (former FATA).
Sajid Hussain Turi told the students that his ministry had taken concrete steps to provide fully funded programs for children of working folks and overseas Pakistanis. Around millions of rupees had been released for the scholarships of students in various universities of the country.
He said, “Providing better educational opportunities to children of workers and overseas Pakistanis is the government’s top priority.”
He said, “Schools are being opened by his ministry in all districts of the erstwhile FATA. Sajid Hussain Turi urged the students to actively participate in socioeconomic and extra-curricular activities and launch awareness campaigns regarding women’s education. He advised the students to also take technical and language courses as there was a demand for the skilled Pakistani workforce, particularly in Europe.
The minister appreciated and extended a warm welcome to the delegation and assured full cooperation to resolve their issues, including those related to the education and health sectors.
