1200 cops deployed for security at cattle markets

ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Deputy Inspector General of Police (DIG) Islamabad Muhammad Jawad Tariq, the Islamabad Police has devised a comprehensive security plan to ensure the safety of traders and buyers in the cattle markets of the federal capital.
As per the security plan, 1,200 officers of Islamabad Police will be deployed across six cattle markets across the capital to ensure the safety of citizens visiting the markets.
In addition, strict legal action will be taken against those setting up illegal cattle markets at locations other than the approved sites.
DIG Islamabad emphasized that any violation of SOPs will be dealt with strictly and no market will be allowed to operate outside the designated areas. He further stated that legal action will be initiated against illegal cattle markets and sale points.
He further said that an effective patrolling plan has also been developed to crack down on fraudsters, pickpockets and criminal elements. Patrolling teams including Dolphin squad and Police Response Unit will conduct regular patrols around the cattle markets.
He added that all these measures aim to maintain peace and security in the federal capital and ensure the protection of citizens’ lives and property.
The public is also urged to cooperate with police officers and immediately report any suspicious items or activities to their local police station or via the emergency helpline “Pucar-15”.
