ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the Islamabad Police and the online taxi app “Yango” have signed a mutual cooperation agreement.
On behalf of Islamabad Police, SSP Safe City Dr. Muhammad Iqbal signed the agreement, while the country Head of Public Policy and Relations represented “Yango.”
The agreement aims to ensure the safety of citizens booking online taxis in Islamabad and to build close coordination between the police and the private ride-hailing company. This will help prevent any unfortunate incidents and allow the police to monitor the movement of passengers and drivers in real time.
The initiative is not only intended to deter untoward incidents but also to ensure the timely resolution of issues faced by passengers, particularly women.
Various proposals were also discussed to further enhance this partnership, with a strong emphasis on safeguarding the personal data and privacy of every user booking an online taxi or motorcycle ride.
To further ensure passenger safety, Islamabad Police has also launched a dedicated online taxi verification app, enabling users to verify any booked taxi service through official channels.
Citizens can visit the official website of Islamabad Police to install the app. Once installed, after booking a ride users can scan the QR code displayed on the vehicle to confirm whether it is registered with the Islamabad Police verification system.
In case a vehicle or motorcycle is not verified, citizens are urged to report it through the “ICTP app” so that legal action can be taken against unverified vehicles.
All these measures are aimed at ensuring the safety and security of lives and property of residents of the federal capital at every level.
