Over 1,600 unfit, smoke emitting public vehicles penalized

ISLAMABAD: Following the special directives of Chief Traffic Officer Islamabad Capt (retd) Syed Zeeshan Haider, Islamabad Traffic Police is taking effective steps to protect the city from environmental pollution and ensure safe travel for its citizens.
In this regard, legal action has been taken against 1,664 smoke-emitting public service vehicles and those without fitness certificates during the current year. Islamabad Police has also launched a special campaign against such vehicles.
All zonal DSPs have been issued specific instructions, and special squads have been further strengthened.

These teams are deployed at key locations and highways across the city and are taking indiscriminate legal action.
CTO Islamabad Syed Zeeshan Haider, stated that smoke-emitting vehicles are not only hazardous to human health but also a serious nuisance to the citizens. Taking action against such vehicles and making Islamabad free from environmental pollution is among the top priorities of the traffic police.
He further stated that strict action will be taken against all public service vehicles that do not possess valid fitness certificates, as they not only pose a danger to innocent lives but also disrupt the smooth flow of traffic.
He appealed to the citizens to support Islamabad Police in reducing environmental pollution and to report any emergencies by calling the helpline Pucar-15.
