ISLAMABAD: Since February, Islamabad Police have arrested 839 criminals from 392 gangs, while daily emergency calls to the Pucar-15 helpline have dropped significantly from 70 to just 10 calls. Additionally, incidents of car and motorcycle theft have declined by 21% overall.
According to the details, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Islamabad Muhammad Shoaib Khan, held an important press conference at the Rescue-15 field office.
During the press conference, SSP Operations stated that Islamabad Police is fully engaged around the clock to ensure law and order in the federal capital. As part of this effort, indiscriminate operations are being conducted across the city against criminal elements.
He added that robbery cases in Islamabad have dropped by 35% in 2025 compared to 2024, and incidents such as car and motorcycle theft have seen an overall decline of 21%. Thanks to effective police operations, 839 members of 392 gangs have been arrested since February, SSP added.
SSP Shoaib Khan also highlighted that before he assumed charge, the emergency helpline “Pucar-15” received 60 to 70 calls per day, which, due to improved strategy and efficient performance, has now been reduced to only 5 to 10 calls daily.
He stated that they have successfully arrested several dangerous criminal gangs and significantly reduced crime in the city. Among the arrested were numerous Afghan nationals, and 7 members of two major gangs, including the Rajanpur Gang, have also been arrested.
This gang had forcibly entered a house, assaulted residents, and looted Rp. 8 million in cash, gold ornaments, and other valuables.
The gang was caught including the domestic worker following a call to Pucar-15. Moreover, stolen items worth millions of rupees have been recovered from the arrested criminals.
SSP Operations further stated that Safe City Islamabad’s surveillance cameras played a vital role in all these operations.
He added that, Alhamdulillah, the crime situation in Islamabad is now under control, and that all SHOs, investigation officers, and senior police officials are working tirelessly.
He urged the public to register their domestic workers with the Police Khidmat Markaz and to check their criminal background. Protecting the lives and property of citizens remains the top priority of Islamabad Police,” he concluded.
