ISLAMABAD: Capital Hospital Islamabad held an academic symposium on Wednesday to mark Breast Cancer Awareness Month, focusing on early detection, prevention, and modern treatment options for the disease.
The event, organised on the directives of Chairman CDA Muhammad Ali Randhawa and supervised by Executive Director Capital Hospital and Head of Surgery Department Dr Naeem Taj, formed part of the hospital’s ongoing commitment to promoting women’s health and preventive care.
Dr Yasmeen Iqbal, General and Breast Cancer Surgeon at Capital Hospital, coordinated the symposium, which brought together medical professionals and public health advocates to discuss advances in breast cancer management.
Special guests included Syed Nafasat Raza, Member Engineering representing the CDA Chairman, and Rabia Aurangzeb, Commissioner of the Islamabad Employees Social Security Institution (IESSI).Both commended Capital Hospital’s efforts to raise awareness of breast cancer and strengthen community outreach initiatives.

The panel of speakers featured leading specialists including Dr Erum Najeeb, Breast Oncoplastic and Reconstructive Surgeon; Professor Naeem Zia; Professor Azam Yusaf; Professor Rakhshanda Rashid; and Dr Tanseer Asghar.
They emphasised the life-saving potential of regular screening and discussed emerging approaches to diagnosis and treatment.
Addressing participants, Dr Naeem Taj said that breast cancer is curable when detected early and urged women to prioritise routine check-ups.
He added that the symposium reflected Capital Hospital’s dedication to education, prevention, and the dissemination of reliable health information.
The session concluded with Syed Nafasat Raza thanking the organisers and reaffirming the CDA’s commitment to supporting health awareness programmes aimed at reducing the burden of breast cancer across Pakistan.
