IGP reviews security arrangements, counter-terrorism measures

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, chaired an important meeting at the Central Police Office (CPO) Islamabad to review the overall law and order situation in the federal capital. The meeting was attended by DIG Security Muhammad Ateeq Tahir, DIG Law & Order/Training Malik Jameel Zafar, SSP Operations, SSP CTD and other senior police officers.
IGP Islamabad conducted a detailed review of law and order, security arrangements, counter-terrorism measures, city entry and exit routes, key government buildings, embassies, and public places.
He directed officers to further tighten security checks at entry and exit points, intensify search and intelligence-based operations, and keep a strict watch on suspicious individuals and activities. He emphasized the need to gather information on illegal residents and criminal elements for timely action, while ensuring effective information sharing and coordination with other security and intelligence agencies.
IGP Islamabad stated that maintaining peace and order in the federal capital is the top priority of the police, and that no compromise will be made on the safety of citizens’ lives and property.
Later, the IGP Islamabad held a meeting with Safe City Islamabad officers and officials from NADRA to review measures related to public safety, the effective use of modern technology, data-sharing systems, and the promotion of smart policing.
He directed senior police officers to make the information-sharing system with NADRA more efficient, link Safe City surveillance data with NADRA’s database for the swift identification of suspicious individuals, and enhance citizen facilitation through NADRA’s technical support.
IGP Islamabad further stated that effective coordination among the Police, NADRA and the Safe City Islamabad would not only strengthen the overall security framework but also significantly improve public service delivery. He urged officers to perform their duties with professionalism, prompt response, and a spirit of public service, ensuring that Islamabad remains the safest capital city.
