Upon arrival, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal was received by Director GINOR, Dr. Asima Zaman Malik, and the hospital administration.
He was briefed on the institution’s diagnostic and treatment capabilities, including its growing patient-care services for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
The minister visited key departments, interacted with medical staff, and appreciated the hospital’s efforts in delivering high-quality cancer treatment despite the operational challenges of a remote region. He particularly commended the management for upholding high standards of care.
An important milestone of the visit was the inauguration of the region’s first PCR machine, which the minister said would significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy and strengthen the overall quality of cancer care for local patients.
Addressing the hospital team, Prof. Ahsan Iqbal underscored the need for accessible and advanced cancer treatment across Gilgit-Baltistan. He reaffirmed the government’s continued support for PAEC and GINOR, assuring that additional resources would be provided for specialized services, modern equipment, and professional training.
AECH GINOR has been catering to a steadily increasing number of cancer patients from across the region, reflecting both the rising demand for specialized care and the community’s trust in the institution.
During the visit, the minister also planted a commemorative tree, symbolizing the government’s commitment to healthcare development and environmental responsibility. He later posed for a group photograph with the hospital staff.
Before concluding the visit, he acknowledged the dedication of the medical team and reiterated the federal government’s resolve to further strengthen healthcare infrastructure for the people of Gilgit-Baltistan.
In the visitors’ book, the minister wrote:
“I am very pleased to visit PAEC GINOR at Gilgit. This project was initiated under Vision 2025 to provide state-of-the-art facilities to the people of GB for early diagnosis and treatment of cancer. It is very heartening to see that the center is fully functional and fulfilling its mission with great zeal and highest level of professionalism. I wish its management and team success.” –Agencies
