ISLAMABAD: In a major step towards reforming Pakistan’s social protection payment landscape, Chairperson of the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP), Rubina Khalid, met with Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Pakistan, Saleemullah, in Karachi on Wednesday to advance plans for a more transparent, secure, and beneficiary-friendly payment system.
The meeting focused on enhancing the effectiveness, transparency, and ease of the payment system for BISP beneficiaries.
The detailed discussions were held on introducing interoperability in the payment mechanism to allow beneficiary women the flexibility to choose any bank according to their convenience.
Other important matters related to facilitating beneficiaries were also discussed during the meeting. Both sides agreed on further improving the payment system to make it more transparent, secure, and accessible.
The State Bank team assured full cooperation with BISP and emphasized that joint measures would be taken to provide improved services to beneficiaries. Director General Cash Transfers, BISP, Muhammad Idrees Mian, and DG Sindh, Sanaullah Rind, were also present at the meeting.
