President stresses welfare-oriented budget focused on economic stability, public relief

ISLAMABAD: President Asif Ali Zardari, on Tuesday, emphasized that the upcoming budget should focus on public welfare, economic stability and providing relief to the vulnerable segments of society.
The president chaired a pre-budget consultative meeting at the Aiwan-e-Sadr to discuss priorities for the next fiscal year, the President Secretariat Media Wing said in a press release.
The meeting was attended by Chairman Pakistan Peoples Party Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb, Member of the National Assembly Naveed Qamar, Senators Sherry Rehman and Saleem Mandviwalla, along with Dr Asim Hussain, Dr Tauqir Shah and the finance secretary.
Participants exchanged views on the overall economic situation of the country, development prioritiesa nd various proposals related to public welfare.
