Board of Peace says Israel to withdraw after Hamas completes disarmament

The so-called Board of Peace says Israeli forces will fully withdraw beyond the “Yellow Line” in eastern Gaza once Hamas has completed the weapons decommissioning process.

The announcement was reiterated following a meeting between Nickolay Mladenov, director-general of the board, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu.

The Board of Peace’s ultimate objective is to ensure the “complete decommissioning of weapons in the Strip and the transition away from rule by the gun to civilian governance”, according to a statement shared on social media.

The implementation of civilian rule “will be overseen by the International Stabilisation Force and by the Implementation Verification Committee, on which both the United States and the Board of Peace sit”, continued the statement. –Agencies
