ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has stepped up development work in residential sectors E-12, I-12 and C-14, with a focus on infrastructure, road networks and civic facilities, as part of efforts to improve planned urban development in the federal capital.
During a visit to Sector E-12 on Friday, CDA Chairman Sohail Ashraf reviewed the progress of ongoing development work and directed the relevant officers to expedite the projects.
The authority said more than 1,000 kanals of state land, valued at billions of rupees, had been retrieved in E-12, describing the recovery as an important step towards protecting public property and facilitating the sector’s planned development.
The recovered land is expected to support future development projects and the provision of infrastructure and civic amenities. However, the authority did not provide a timeline for the completion of the ongoing development work or details of the facilities to be made available to residents.
Development activities are also continuing in I-12 and C-14, where the CDA says it is focusing on infrastructure and residential facilities. The authority is undertaking road construction and rehabilitation, improvements to major road networks, and the construction and improvement of underpasses and pedestrian bridges to facilitate commuters and improve connectivity.
The initiatives are being pursued under the directions of Interior Minister Syed Mohsin Raza Naqvi and the supervision of the CDA chairman.
The chairman was accompanied by the director general (Works), chief executive officer of the Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad, additional deputy commissioner (General), project director and the relevant assistant commissioner during the visit.
The authority also highlighted initiatives involving Park Enclave, parks, lakes, landscaping and horticulture, saying these were intended to improve public spaces and the urban environment.
The pace of development in the residential sectors will ultimately be measured by the timely provision of essential infrastructure and civic facilities, including usable roads and services required by residents. The CDA said it would continue development work across Islamabad to improve infrastructure and civic amenities.
