Foreign secretary meets Wafaqi Mohtasib to discuss overseas Pakistanis’

ISLAMABAD: Foreign Secretary Amna Baloch met Wafaqi Mohtasib Naveed Kamran Baloch here on Thursday to discuss steps to expedite redressal of problems faced by Overseas Pakistanis, including strengthening grievance-handling at missions abroad and formalising weekly clinics for diaspora complaints.
The Wafaqi Mohtasib told the visiting foreign secretary that Overseas Pakistanis are “a precious asset” and his office gives priority to quick resolution of their issues through a dedicated Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis at the Mohtasib Secretariat.
He said that, on his initiative, every Pakistani mission has designated a focal person to act on diaspora complaints and been instructed to set aside one day each week to meet overseas nationals and address their grievances.
Ms Baloch welcomed the Mohtasib’s measures and affirmed that Pakistani missions would implement the Secretariat’s instructions “in letter and spirit”, underscoring the ministry’s support for improved services to the expatriate community.
The meeting highlighted the two institutions’ commitment to institutional coordination to ensure faster responses to consular and welfare problems faced by Pakistanis abroad, officials said. –Agencies
