TEHRAN: Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf has said the era in which US F-35 and F-15 fighter jets could be targeted and damaged has already begun, describing what he called a former “nightmare” as a new daily reality.
In a post on X, Ghalibaf said: “The era when your F-35s and F-15s get hunted down, and you have to report them damaged has already begun.” “What was once pure nightmare fuel is now the daily reality. Live with it,” he added.
His remarks came amid the ongoing US-Israeli war with Iran, during which Tehran has repeatedly claimed to have damaged or brought down US and allied aircraft. US military aircraft were reportedly damaged in an Iranian missile strike on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan earlier this month. CBS News reported that an A-10 sustained wing damage and about eight F-15s sustained light damage, while Air & Space Forces Magazine also reported the damage.
Separately, Yemen’s Iran-backed Houthis claimed on September 16 that they had shot down a Saudi F-15 over Marib. Ghalibaf’s latest remarks appear to refer to these recent claims and reports involving US and allied fighter aircraft. However, his post did not provide details of any specific F-35 being shot down.
