Health Ministry, NADRA sign MoU to digitize Hepatitis C Elimination Program

ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination and National Database and Registration Authority (NADRA) on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen the digital system of the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Program.
The MoU signing ceremony was held at NADRA headquarters here and was attended by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal and NADRA Chairman Lieutenant General Muhammad Munir Afsar.
Addressing the ceremony, Mustafa Kamal said NADRA, in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, would develop an integrated digital data management system for the program to improve monitoring and service delivery.
He said the system would ensure patient registration, verification, tracking, and real-time data sharing, enabling transparent and effective implementation of the initiative.
The minister described the Prime Minister’s Hepatitis C Elimination Program as a major national initiative, aimed at addressing the growing burden of Hepatitis C in the country.
He said Pakistan remains among the countries most affected by Hepatitis C worldwide, adding that such initiatives would make the elimination program more effective and result-oriented.
Mustafa Kamal reiterated the government’s commitment to eliminate Hepatitis C by 2030 through timely screening, diagnosis, and treatment.
He stressed that early diagnosis is critical for controlling the disease and said the government is taking practical and effective measures to ensure successful implementation of the elimination program.
The minister further announced that the Hepatitis C Elimination Program would be launched in Islamabad next week.
