IGP reviews crime control, public facilitation measures

ISLAMABAD: IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, held an important meeting at the Central Police Office Islamabad. The meeting was attended by DIG Operations, DIG Headquarters, AIGs, SSPs, zonal SPs, and other senior police officers.
During the meeting, the IGP Islamabad conducted a detailed review of the overall crime situation, security arrangements, and progress on under investigation cases, actions against proclaimed and habitual offenders, and the facilities being provided to citizens. He sought progress reports on ongoing tasks and emphasized that improvement in performance, transparency, and timely response must be ensured at all costs. IGP Islamabad issued instructions to carry out indiscriminate crackdowns against those involved in serious crimes, particularly robbery, theft, and drug trafficking. He directed that the arrest of proclaimed offenders must be ensured under all circumstances and that special teams be formed for this purpose.
He further instructed that at the police station level, courteous behavior with citizens, prompt hearing of complaints, and merit-based action must be ensured. He also directed that the patrolling system be made more effective, hotspots be identified, and police presence increased in those areas.
Modern technology, Safe City cameras, and digital monitoring should be fully utilized. Surveillance of high-alert areas, important installations, and public places should be further strengthened. Additionally, the IGP Islamabad reviewed ongoing development projects of Islamabad Police, as well as force welfare, residential and medical facilities, and citizen facilitation measures at police stations.
He directed officers to complete development projects within stipulated timelines, ensure no compromise on quality, and maintain transparency in the use of resources. He further ordered that practical steps be taken to improve the welfare, housing, and duty hours of police personnel. Front desk services at police stations should be made more active and aligned with modern requirements.
The complaint redressal system should be made effective and accountable. Facilities for women, senior citizens, and special persons should be further improved.
Later, the IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, along with the AIG Logistics, visited the entry points of Police Lines Headquarters, where he conducted a detailed inspection of security and administrative arrangements.
He directed the officers on the spot to further strengthen and improve checking mechanisms at entry and exit points and ensure full implementation of security protocols. On this occasion, the IGP Islamabad met with citizens, listened to their issues, and obtained feedback.
He instructed relevant officers to ensure immediate resolution of public complaints and to adopt a courteous and professional attitude toward citizens in order to further promote trust between the police and the public.
