IGP reviews Muharram security at G-9 Imambargah, procession routes

ISLAMABAD: Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi visited Imambargah G-9/4 and reviewed security arrangements and procession routes as part of ongoing monitoring of Muharram-ul-Haram security measures in the federal capital.
IGP was accompanied by Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Islamabad, Muhammad Jawad Tariq, DIG Headquarters Ateeq Tahir, Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Operations Qazi Ali Raza and other senior police officers during the visit.
Rizvi inspected security deployments at the Imambargah and reviewed arrangements made for the safety of mourners participating in Muharram gatherings and processions.
IGP Rizvi also visited key procession routes and assessed operational preparedness, surveillance measures and deployment of police personnel.
During the visit, Rizvi issued necessary directions regarding security arrangements and instructed officers to remain vigilant and perform their duties with dedication and professionalism throughout Muharram-ul-Haram.
The IGP emphasized that all officers and personnel should discharge their responsibilities honestly and efficiently, adding that negligence in duty would not be tolerated under any circumstances.
He said comprehensive and foolproof security arrangements had been put in place to ensure the peaceful observance of Muharram-ul-Haram across the federal capital.
The official said Islamabad Police was utilizing all available resources to maintain law and order, strengthen coordination among security agencies and provide a secure environment for mourners.
Rizvi reiterated Islamabad Police’s commitment to ensuring the best possible security arrangements and maintaining peace in the federal capital during Muharram-ul-Haram, the official added.
