Islamabad admin denies 10 PM, 8 PM shop closure notice

Staff Report

ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad administration on Wednesday clarified that a notification circulating on social media about shop closures at 10 PM and sports facilities at 8 PM is false.
Officials said no new order has been issued today and urged citizens to rely on verified sources.
The Deputy Commissioner Islamabad stated through an official social media post that a document about revised shop closing times is being shared online without verification. The post clearly said the administration has not released any fresh notification regarding business hours on April 22, 2026.
The clarification came after a notice, marked as “fake,” began circulating widely. The document claimed that shops, markets, and shopping malls would close at 10:00 PM throughout the week, including weekends. It also mentioned that sports facilities, including gyms, would close at 8:00 PM. The same notice listed exemptions for medical stores, petrol pumps, and some essential services, while also giving separate timings for restaurants and marriage halls. However, the district administration rejected the document and confirmed that these instructions are not valid.
Officials said the public should not trust or share such unverified content.
It also asked people to avoid forwarding messages that are not confirmed, as this can create confusion. Citizens have been reminded that any change in business hours or public activity schedules will be announced through proper government platforms.
