ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan-Romania Business Council (PRBC) joined a Sri Lankan Traditional New Year event held at Iqra University Main Campus Ground, bringing together diplomats, business representatives and community members for a cultural gathering.
The event, hosted by the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Karachi on Sunday It marked the New Year with participation from different sectors, highlighting cultural links and engagement between communities. PRBC was represented by its Advisor and Chief Operating Officer Atif Farooqi and Chairman Sohail Shamim Firpo. Both officials attended the event and met with guests from diplomatic and business circles.
The participation of PRBC reflected its ongoing role in supporting cultural interaction and building connections between countries. The council focuses on promoting ties not only in trade but also through social and cultural platforms. Speaking at the event, Atif Farooqi said such gatherings help bring people from different backgrounds together and support mutual understanding.
He acknowledged the efforts of the Sri Lankan Consulate in organizing the event and providing a platform for interaction among communities.
The programme included the lighting of an oil lamp to mark the start of the ceremony, followed by opening remarks from the host. Traditional games were arranged, allowing participants to engage in cultural activities. Guests were also served refreshments during the event.
A musical programme was part of the evening, where attendees experienced performances linked to Sri Lankan traditions. The event concluded with a dinner attended by participants from various sectors. Officials said such events help maintain cultural exchange and provide opportunities for dialogue among countries. PRBC noted that it values such engagements as part of its broader work in strengthening international relations and cooperation. The gathering in Karachi highlighted the role of diplomatic missions in promoting cultural events and encouraging participation from local and international communities.
