ISLAMABAD: Samuel Rizk, Resident Representative of UNDP Pakistan, visited the National Institute of Public Administration (NIPA), Islamabad, to interact and deliver a lecture to the Civil Servants of Pakistan. The esteemed speaker delivered an insightful talk on UNDP’s partnership with Pakistan in advancing climate financing and sustainable development.
The lecture was delivered to 47 civil servants of the senior management course and 44 civil servants of the mid-career management course belonging to various service groups currently undergoing training at NIPA Islamabad. Rizk provided an overview of UNDP’s support to Pakistan in strengthening policy development, leadership, institutional capacity, partnership building, and resilience to sustain development outcomes.
He also highlighted UNDP’s role in promoting collaborative frameworks with national institutions to address climate challenges, mobilize financing for sustainable initiatives, and enhance governance mechanisms for long-term resilience.
During his presentation, Rizk underscored the importance of collaborative partnerships between development partners and national institutions in advancing climate action. He shared valuable insights into global best practices, innovative climate financing mechanisms, and the key challenges associated with mobilizing and accessing climate finance, enriching participants’ understanding of the evolving global landscape.
The session was highly interactive, with participants engaging in substantive discussions on policy implications, institutional reforms and integration of sustainable development strategies into Pakistan’s governance framework. As a way forward, the speaker emphasized co-financing with development partners, scaling up private sector engagement, localizing implementation at the provincial level and establishing a joint working group to strengthen collaboration and advance sustainable development initiatives.
As a gesture of goodwill and lasting institutional collaboration, a souvenir was presented to the distinguished guest by Asim Iqbal, Director General, NIPA Islamabad. The exchange underscored the mutual commitment of NIPA Islamabad and the United Nations agencies to strengthening their partnership through sustained engagement and the continued exchange of knowledge, expertise, and best practices for capacity building and institutional development.
