BEIJING: Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee, has urged solid efforts to carry out the education campaign on the study and implementation of the Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, to enhance cohesion and pool strengths for forging ahead on the new journey.
Xi, also Chinese president and chairman of the Central Military Commission, made the remarks when delivering an important speech at a working conference on the Party-wide campaign on Monday.
Taking this education campaign as an opportunity, Xi called for strengthening the Party’s innovative theories and continuously enhancing the Party’s governing ability and leadership level.
Xi urged efforts to educate and guide CPC members and cadres to firmly establish the people-centered development philosophy. He called on all CPC members to remain committed to the Party’s fundamental purpose of wholeheartedly serving the people, and doing everything for the people while relying on the people in everything the Party members do.
The campaign is an important measure to implement the spirit of the 20th National Congress of the CPC, and it is important for solving the prominent problems within the Party, maintaining the close ties between the Party and the people and promoting the development of the cause of the Party and the country, he said. Xi also urged to boost the Party’s ability to purify, improve, renew, and excel itself and ensure that the Party always retains its vigor and vitality.
In his concluding remarks, Cai Qi, member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, said Xi’s speech is a programmatic document of Marxism and it provides fundamental guidelines for the Party to implement the education campaign.
