IGP addresses complaints of transgender community

ISLAMABAD: IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younus on Tuesday directed all police officials to resolve the public complaints on priority and directed to take practical steps to set up `protection center’ for transgender community.
During an ‘Open Court’ especially held on Tuesday with the purpose to listen issues of policemen and citizens, the IGP directed relevant police officials to resolve their issues and gave them timeframe for the purpose. Islamabad police chief said that it is our prime responsibility to provide protection to the lives and property of the citizens and resolve their problems on priority. He said that citizens at `Open Court’ should be behaved in a respectful manner and their trust on police department to be won through resolving their issues. He said that interaction with people also ensures accountability of the policemen and they should address public complaints on merit by considering them their own issues. He said that positive image of policemen should be ensured before them through unbiased approach towards anyone. The IGP hoped that interaction during `open kutcheries’ would help to promote friendly policing. Such interaction with citizens are aimed to promote community policing, resolve the issues of people at their door steps through merit and curb activities of anti-social elements, he added.

IGP visits pickets
at midnight,
encourages personnel

ISLAMABAD: IGP Islamabad, Muhammad Ahsan Younus paid surprise visit to various police pickets late night on Monday and encroureged the duty personnel.
He asked the policeman to utilize all possible resources to protect the lives and properties of citizens. He directed them to remain more vigilant while performing duties and extend patrolling to other areas to secure the city. The IGP instructed the police ‘Jawans’ to perform duties with honesty as their performance would be evaluated.

ITP launches awareness campaign on overhead bridges

ISLAMABAD: On the special direction of IGP Islamabad Muhammad Ahsan Younis, all possible steps are being taken by Islamabad Traffic Police to make Islamabad Zero accidents City and provide uninterrupted travel facilities to the public. Further steps are being taken to provide awareness to the citizens about the use of over head bridge, in the regard education wing is working along with ITP to ensure the use of overhead bridge to prevent accidents.
Special tasks have been given to the education team under the supervision of SSP Traffic Rai Mazhar Iqbal, he said citizens are being informed about the benefits of using overhead bridges by visiting the overhead bridges on a daily basis. The use of overhead bridges is prevention of accidents. The awareness team will submit a performance report to SSP Traffic on a daily basis. On this occasion, SSP Traffic Rai Mazhar Iqbal appealed to the public to use overhead bridges to stay safe from accidents. He further said that a person does not become a good driver unless he becomes a good pedestrian.
