Chinese shares close higher on Monday

BEIJING: Chinese stocks closed higher on Monday, with the benchmark Shanghai Composite Index up 0.42 percent to 3,084.94 points.
The Shenzhen Component Index closed 0.36 percent higher at 11,162.26 points.
The turnover of stocks covered by the two indices stood at 807.28 billion yuan (about 113.6 billion U.S. dollars), down from 860.81 billion yuan on the previous trading day.
Shares related to the education sector led the gains, while those related to gas and sodium-ion battery were among the biggest losers.
The ChiNext Index, tracking China’s Nasdaq-style board of growth enterprises, gained 0.03 percent to close at 2,435.02 points. –Agencies
