ISLAMABAD: The Secretary of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP), Umar Hamid Khan, met with Capital Development Authority (CDA) Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Monday to review ongoing and upcoming construction projects in the capital.
The meeting, held at CDA Headquarters, was attended by senior officials from both the ECP and CDA, including CDA Member Engineering Syed Nafaasat Raza and Member Finance Tahir Naeem.
Officials discussed plans for the Federal Election Academy and associated office buildings in Islamabad. They were informed that the tendering process for the projects will begin shortly, with the foundation stone scheduled to be laid soon afterwards.
Work on a pre-fabricated gymnasium at the ECP Secretariat is also progressing rapidly. The meeting included a review of fire safety and security measures at the ECP headquarters.
Officials said surveys for a fire safety plan have been completed and its implementation will be prioritised. Chairman Randhawa instructed that ECP representatives be included in all tendering processes and that construction be monitored through CCTV cameras to ensure transparency and quality.
He also called for the appointment of focal persons from both organisations to oversee project standards and completion. ECP Secretary Umar Hamid Khan praised CDA’s development and beautification initiatives in Islamabad.
He said ongoing coordination between the two bodies would help accelerate completion of current projects and facilitate the timely start of new initiatives. Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to strengthen cooperation and ensure smooth execution of development projects in the capital.
