ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Car and Motorcycle Theft Unit arrested 64 accused including 40 members of 18 gangs as well as car receivers. Police team also recovered 112 stolen cars, 32 motorcycles worth over Rs 250 million.
Following the special directives of Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, the SSP Investigation Muhammad Usman Tariq Butt held an important press conference at Police Lines Headquarters Islamabad regarding the indiscriminate operations of the Anti-Car and Motorcycle Theft Unit within the federal capital.
During the press conference, he stated that in 2025, the Islamabad Police Anti-Car and Motorcycle Theft Unit, during its indiscriminate operations against car and motorcycle thieves, arrested 64 accused including 40 members of 18 gangs as well as receivers.
From the possession of arrested accused, 112 vehicles and 32 motorcycles worth Rs. 250 million were recovered. He added that the theft unit successfully traced unknown accused involved in car theft with the help of modern Safe City Islamabad cameras and effective surveillance, utilizing both human intelligence and advanced technological resources.
He further stated that due to the effective strategy of Islamabad Police, incidents of car theft in 2025 have significantly decreased compared to 2024. Similarly, in 2025, the Anti-Car and Motorcycle Theft Unit conducted crackdowns in Islamabad, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab, Azad Kashmir, Balochistan, and Gilgit-Baltistan to arrest highly wanted and organized gangs involved in vehicle snatching and theft.
This resulted in a substantial reduction in car snatching and motorcycle theft incidents in the federal capital.
Due to these effective operations, as in previous years, the arrest of car thieves and the recovery of stolen vehicles has been ensured this year as well.
At the end of the ceremony, SSP Investigation handed over the keys of the recovered cars and motorcycles to their rightful owners. The owners appreciated the performance of the police teams and expressed their gratitude to IGP Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi and officers of Islamabad Police for recovering their stolen vehicles.
