Crackdown against drug peddlers intensified

ISLAMABAD: Capital Cops have intensified crackdown against drug peddlers and arrested 15 criminals including one illegal weapon handler from different areas of the city.
Police teams also recovered 3200 gram heroin, 3995 gram hashish, 500 gram opium and 100 gram and weapons with ammunition from their possession.
Following the directives of IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan, spokesperson said that Islamabad police accelerated crackdown against criminal elements in order to reduce crime rate in the federal capital. In this regard special police teams of different police stations were formed to take stern action against those involved in anti social activities.
According to the details, Bhara Kahu and Tarnol police teams arrested three accused involved in drug peddling namely Kalesh, Khurram Naqash and Abdul Waheed and recovered 2870 gram heroin from their possession. Likewise, Shahzad Town and Sabzi Mandi police teams arrested two drug peddlers namely Chaudhary Qaisar and Abdul Baqi and recovered 2870 gram hashish from their possession.
Similarly, Kohsar police team arrested two accused during checking namely Shafique and Sagir Basheer and recovered 820 gram hashish and 100 gram ice from their possession. Karachi Company police teams arrested two accused namely Steve alias Imran and Mohsin Masih and recovered 220 gram heroin from their possession.
Moreover, Industrial Area and Bani Gala police teams two accused namely Shehnaz Bibi and Mohsin involved in drug peddling and possessing illegal weapon and recovered 210 gram heroin and 115 gram hashish from their possession. Khana and Noon police teams arrested two accused namely Azad Khan and Sofia during snap checking involved in drug peddling and recovered 430 gram hashish and 500 gram opium from their possession
Cases against all the nominated accused have been registered and further investigations are underway.
IGP Islamabad Dr. Akbar Nasir Khan has appreciated this overall performance of the police teams and further ordered to intensify the crackdown. “Safety and security of the citizens is our foremost priority and no laxity will be tolerated in this regard”, he added.
