ISLAMABAD: Ministry for National Health Services, Regulations and Coordination handed over Isolation Hospital and Infections Treatment Center (IHITC) and the Regional Blood Center to Indus Hospital & Health Network, aiming to ensure the provision of quality, effective and sustainable medical facilities to the public.
The handover took place after the signing of two agreements at a ceremony chaired by Federal Health Minister Syed Mustafa Kamal on Thursday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Minister called it a historic step for the health sector and said that under the agreements, administrative and medical services of both hospitals had been handed over to the Indus Hospital Network.
He added that the IHITC was established with the cooperation of China, while the Regional Blood Center was built with modern facilities with the cooperation of Germany.
The minister said the government engaged an independent consultant in accordance with all legal and Public Procurement Regulatory Authority (PPRA) rules, ensuring complete transparency throughout the process.
“Indus Hospital Network was selected after a detailed feasibility assessment and competitive process,” he said, adding that a viable model was subsequently presented to the prime minister, after the approval of which this agreement was made possible today.
He expressed optimism that these hospitals would not only provide the health services above the current standards but would also continue to serve the public for a long time under a sustainable management system. Mustafa Kamal thanked the entire team of the Ministry of Health, the concerned officers and the Indus Hospital Network, saying that this partnership would prove to be an excellent example of public service, transparency and effective use of national resources.
